Who we are
89 Ninety Classic Cars, Unit 10, Star Lane Industrial Estate, Great Wakering, Essex SS3 0PJ. We decide how your information is used, which makes us the “controller” under UK data protection law.
For anything about your information, email sales@89ninetyclassiccars.com or call 07887 512922.
What we collect
- When you send an enquiry: your name, email address, phone number (if you give it), your vehicle and registration, and your message.
- When we work on your car: your name, address, phone and email; your vehicle’s details and registration; quotes, job cards, invoices and payments; and photos or videos of your car taken in the workshop.
- When you visit the website: our server keeps a standard log of requests (IP address, page requested, browser type and time) to keep the site secure and working.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote — because you asked us to.
- To carry out work on your car, keep you updated, and invoice you — to fulfil our agreement with you.
- To keep accounting and tax records — because the law requires it.
- To keep the website and our systems secure — our legitimate interest in running a safe business.
We don’t send marketing, we don’t sell or rent your information, and we don’t use it for automated decisions about you.
Who we share it with
Only the companies that help us run the business, and only what they need:
- Our email provider (Google Workspace) and cloud storage for backup copies of our paperwork (Google Drive).
- The company that hosts our website and workshop system on a secure server in Europe.
- Our accountant, and HMRC or other authorities when the law requires it.
Google may handle data outside the UK; where it does, it uses the safeguards UK law requires. If we send you a link to photos of your car, anyone with that link can view them, so please only share it with people you want to see them.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don’t lead to any work: up to 2 years.
- Customer, job and invoice records, including workshop photos: 6 years after we last work on your car, as tax law requires.
- Website logs: a few weeks.
Cookies
Our website doesn’t use cookies for tracking or advertising, and we don’t use analytics. Two things are worth knowing:
- The fonts on our pages are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google sees your IP address when the page loads. No cookies are set.
- The map on our home page only loads if you click Show map. Google Maps may then set its own cookies (see Google’s cookie policy).
The staff area of our site uses essential cookies to keep staff signed in. They aren’t used for anything else.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you;
- correct anything that’s wrong;
- delete it, or stop using it, unless we must keep it by law (for example invoices);
- send it to you or another company in a usable format.
Just email or call us. It’s free, and we’ll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
